About caring heart

Caring Heart started this conversation

Hello, I started a non-medical homecare agency in 2007. I started it 3 years after the death of my son. who died from asthma. his name was Terell. My company name is Rels Homecare Corp.

In memory of Terell. At first things were going well considering I had just started.I had the clients (I also work in a nursing home). I've been in the healthcare field for 20 years. I wanted to start a business where I could really help people. So I decided to go where my heart is. which is helping my senior citzens and disable people. I love my senior citzens.people always ask me why I say "my senior citizens" It's because I have so much love in myheart, soul, and mind for them. At Rels homecare corp we offer services in personal care, homemaking, in home respite, and companionship. I offer free services on the 15th of every month. I have been advised this is not good business practice. But, I do it anyway.

I make extra money to pay my staff for these free services to clients by working my regular job. I can't get any loans, grants, and I found the SBA is more harder and stricker than most banks. I dont know what to do.

I started this business with the money in my pocket and the determination to make it work. I would work 200 hours a pay peroid (at my regular job) just to make this work. I dont charge my clients a lot of money because most are on fixed incomes. I been told i'm the cheapest homecare agency around.

But now it seem so hard without geting some type of assistance. I try to do everything from fund raiser to everything to raise money to help with the care of my clients, But so far i've been unsuccessful. If anyonehas any ideas please help

Thank You

I'd just like to let you know that to this day, I still have not forgotten how you lied to me. You said you were going to help me and because of you, I lost everything. While waiting for money that you never sent, I pawned everything of value that I owned to stay afloat, thinking I could buy my stuff back when I received your "help." No thanks at all to you, I'm doing better than I could've have imagined two years ago when I was down and out.

I was wondering if you could grant me some assistance. My 1yr old son is a special needs child who is in need of Genetic Testing and SoonerCare Oklahoma's Medicaid program wont cover it. The total cost of the testing is $3,500 and I am working Day labor but at most it pays $80.00 a day and trying to keep a 2yr old and 1yr old in diapers and keeping a family in food plus my pregnant wife who is high risk with our 3rd child things are really tough. Please anything you could do would help. Thank You and GOD BLESS

Don't give up.  What you are doing is great!  If you haven't already done so, please sign up for wishuponahero.com.  It's something like AidPage, but you are most likely to get help with your goals there.  What you are doing cannot be denied-there's got to be some help for you out there somewhere!

Do you have a business plan? If not, build one. The reason I'm saying that is because the business plan will give you a direction and that will help you focus on where you are and where you need to go. In your case, that will help a lot. Best of luck....

Your seniors are lucky to have someone like you on their side!  I'm not an expert on this, but it might make sense for you to become a not-for-profit business - which is just a tax status and doesn't mean you can't make a profit.  Talk to your accountant or lawyer to get more info, or maybe one of the other aidmates can advise you.  Best wishes, Rosie
